What to bring to Ushuaia in winter?
Whenever we travel to places we have not visited before, we always worry about the amount of clothes we are going to take.
If it will be enough…if we will be able to wash it…if it will get wet!
In Ushuaia we usually say that we dress like “onions”, yes, like vegetables! In several layers.
To protect us from low temperatures and snow outside, as well as to be comfortable inside the vehicles and heated spaces.
That is why today we are going to propose you our list of must-haves for your luggage if you go on any of our Ushuaia winter excursions.
Waterproof jacket
Not only does it protect you from the wind, but it has waterproof technology to prevent you from getting wet so you can enjoy the snowy days at the End of the World!
We’ll call it our third layer.
Micro fleece or Polar fleece
The fleece is worn under the waterproof jacket, it is the second layer. It is ideal for winter and the type of fabric makes the fleece suitable for all snow and outdoor activities.
DRY-FIT / Second skin T-shirts
Although they may be difficult to obtain, today they are more accessible due to the practicality of this type of T-shirts that accompany any traveler.
The famous Dry-fit or ‘second skin shirt’ is the first layer of clothing, worn directly on the skin.
Trekking boots
If we have cold feet, we will feel cold all day long all over the body!
An ally for many mountain trekking and even for walking in the city when the streets are dressed in white. Our advice is to invest in a quality boot, waterproof and with a good cushioning system, to support all activities.
You can rent snow boots in many places in Ushuaia too, don’t worry!
You will enjoy the ride and return with dry feet to the hotel!
Waterproof pants
To complete the clothing, ‘second skin’ pants are ideal for you to wear under conventional pants, in direct contact with the skin, as they will keep you warm and comfortable.
For snow hiking, waterproof pants, worn over the other two layers, are also recommended. It will prevent water or snow from penetrating and reaching your skin. You will be able to culipatin without any worry!!!!
Glove, hat and scarf
Hat, gloves and scarf are welcome and necessary for the winter in Ushuaia. But be careful! Woolen gloves are no help here. They get wet with snow and if you want to play with it your hands will freeze!
Choose waterproof gloves to be able to enjoy the snow all the time.
Sunscreen and sunglasses
Last but not least: these two items are essential! Especially if you are going on our Beagle Channel excursion. Even on cloudy days, the little sun reflecting off the snow produces a light effect that is not at all pleasing to the eye. The sunscreen is to protect you from ultraviolet rays, which are released even when there is little sun.
And now that you have your luggage ready.. What are you waiting for to come and enjoy the snow at the End of the World?
